Even though she understands little of the world's ways, Violet sets out to learn what love is and takes a job writing letters for a post office. Her new role as an Auto Memory Doll means she will peek into people's hearts as she types out dictated letters for them, and what Violet learns about her clients might sometimes drive her to tears. That's not a reason to quit this job, though, because it will make Violet more determined than ever to help people express themselves and contact their loved ones via paper mail. In Violet's eyes, this is a humanitarian job.
