Inside Maude Apatow’s Relaxing New York Home (2024)

Hey AD, I'm Maude Apatow.

Welcome to my home.

[upbeat music]

So this is my new apartment.

I just moved to New York this past January

and I've always wanted to live here my whole life.

So I'm so excited

and it's still a bit of a work in progress.

I saw this wallpaper and I just thought it was so pretty.

It feels like I'm like walking into a beautiful

forest garden right when I come in.

So I really liked that.

I like the contrast from like being in New York

and things are kind of hectic

and the second I get into my apartment I'm like,

oh, I can decompress.

Like I feel relaxed when I walk inside.

And I think that was probably my main goal

with the entryway.

I'd been looking for an apartment for a really long time

and it looked

so different when I first saw it for the first time.

But I just kind of had that feeling like say yes

to the dress, like you just know.

And I came inside and I was like, has a good energy.

And I think that's really important.

The area is beautiful and the light is good.

Just all the things that you look

for in an apartment, I feel like this one had.

[upbeat music]

So [giggling] here's the living room.

Here's my cat tower for my cat, Dolly.

She's kind of bi-coastal, just like me.

So we're back and forth.

She's not here right now, but she usually is.

And she likes to sit in the second one, as you can see

'cause there's lots of hair in it.

Here's like my little dining room nook.

I usually have breakfast here

and use this table also as a desk

because you know,

in these apartments you gotta make use of the space.

I've done minimal hosting here.

I've had maybe three friends over,

but in the future I'll have more and cook.

And you know, I just finished redoing my kitchen actually.

[upbeat music]

Here's the kitchen. It's pink because I love pink.

I love the marble.

I loved this Kallista unlacquered brass faucet.

I thought it was just really pretty

and matched all of these doorknobs.

And I loved the gold. I thought the gold was really pretty.

I knew I wanted the cabinets to be pink,

but I was like, how do I find a pink

that's not like super overpowering?

So I think I found a good one.

It's like a good, light pink that's sort of easy on the eye.

Love these tomatoes. I love heirloom tomatoes.

Can't wait to make a nice heirloom tomato salad,

which will be easy 'cause I've got the goods.

These actually are my cookies.

They're Tate's and they're my favorite cookies.

This is my salt and pepper shaker.

There isn't any salt or pepper in it

because I think it's more of, it's a decorative piece.

I thought it was so cute.

I don't even know what's in my kitchen.

I haven't been here in like, oh,

I do love some baked beans.

Always have those in the closet.

[upbeat music]

So when I do eventually host people,

I'll probably make them a drink at this bar cart.

While you're making a drink,

you can look at this gorgeous portrait.

It's painted by a German artist

and I thought it kind of looked like me.

And I think people when they come in do think it's like a

custom painting of me.

My favorite co*cktail is a martini,

so I have, oh, this is cute, actually.

This, just supplies to whip up a little martini.

Here's my couch.

It's actually underneath another beautiful

painting of a woman

who vaguely looks like me, surrounded by cats.

Like I just love all of these little details

and like the cat's face, if you look [indistinct]

it is so cute.

The little whiskers like that.

All of these pieces here are Soho Home.

And the carpet, I loved this couch.

I thought it was just like really

comfortable when I sat on it.

My boyfriend had COVID

and I didn't let him sleep in my

bedroom for obvious reasons.

And so he slept on the couch

and he said it was very comfortable.

So it also can double as a bed for guests.

This chair I just think is really cute. I liked it.

It swivels around. It's a casual little thing.

It was always like my dream to move

to New York it and to do theater.

So earlier this year I came here and was doing theater

and living here and I was just like, I've peaked.

So now what?

But it, it's always been my dream.

So I can't believe it happened, honestly. It's crazy.

I'm extra happy in New York.

[upbeat music]

Okay, so here's my bedroom.

I really liked this sort of like pink wash on the walls

and then the ceiling and all

of these lighter bits are also pink.

They're just a lighter pink.

And then this paint painting I bought

from this artist, Dylan Rheingold.

I love her art. I think she's so talented.

And I don't know, something about this like

with the pink cheeks, I thought it looked so pretty

and so much like emotion in it.

Yeah, I really like gravitated towards this.

Here's my bed.

I've never had a king bed before

and so I thought now

that I'm an adult woman in my first place, I'll have

a king sized bed and I usually sleep on one side of it,

so I might as well have a twin bed.

I love this bed frame. This is also Soho Home.

I don't know, it's really simple and pretty

and just my goal with the bedroom was like sort

of a relaxing feeling.

And I definitely feel that when I'm in here.

The pink wash, it's kind of crazy

how much it changes the entire vibe of the room.

I feel like because of that, I didn't feel like I needed

to get too many art pieces.

I feel like just keeping it clean, like the wash

of the wall is almost like an art piece itself.

Yeah, I really love it. It's just so calming.

[upbeat music]

This is my bathroom.

We have the same marble as the marble in the kitchen.

And then these are also the Kallista

faucets that I have in the kitchen.

They're also the towel rack.

The tile, I really liked the pink tile obviously,

but this is sort of like a little bit of a darker,

dustier pink, so it's also very neutral.

But yeah, I mean it's pretty tight in here.

[upbeat music]

This has been fun, but it's time to go.

So I'll see you soon. Bye.
