Edmond dealership hit by two break-ins, cars stolen in same week (2024)

JASON, I KNOW YOU’VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS. YEAH, GUYS, THIS DEALERSHIP WAS BROKEN INTO TWICE IN THE SAME WEEK. NOW, THE FIRST TIME THE SUSPECTS DIDN’T STEAL ANYTHING, BUT THE SECOND TIME, TWO VEHICLES WERE STOLEN. AND POLICE HAVE SINCE FOUND THOSE CARS. I NOTICED WE HAD AN AUDI R8 THAT WE HAD JUST ACQUIRED SATURDAY EVENING. UM, IT WAS MISSING. ONE OF THE PERPETRATORS HAD WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN UZI. WE GOT A PICTURE OF SECURITY VIDEO CONFIRMED WHAT THE DEALERSHIPS GENERAL MANAGER ALREADY THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE HAD BROKEN THE LOCK ON THE FRONT GATE. THERE WAS A TRUCK PARKED UP BY THE GATE, AND IT TURNS OUT THEY DIDN’T CUT THE LOCK. THEY RAMMED THE GATE WITH THIS TRUCK. THAT TRUCK IS PART OF THE COMPANY’S INVENTORY. OTHER CAMERAS CAPTURED THE SUSPECTS DRIVING THE AUDI OFF THE LOT, ALONG WITH A JEEP SUV. SHORTLY AFTER, WE’RE TOLD ONE OF THE CARS HAD A GPS TRACKER IN. IT LED OFFICERS TO A SECOND ADDRESS IN THE 3400 BLOCK OF NORTH PROSPECT. THOSE VEHICLES WERE RECOVERED. THEY FOUND BOTH OF OUR VEHICLES, UM, ALONG WITH A TROVE OF KEY FOBS THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN FROM SOMEWHERE, UM, ALONG WITH TWO OF OUR SECURITY CAMERAS, WHICH THEY HAD REMOVED FROM THE WALLS. BUT POLICE HAVE A LEAD SECURITY VIDEO SHOWS ONE OF THE SUSPECTS GOT THIRSTY AND FLASHED A co*kE, BUT NO SMILE DIRECTLY AT THE CAMERA WITH HIS MASK DOWN. AND JUST TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS BREAK IN, CAMERAS CAPTURED THIS IMAGE OF A SUSPECT AT THE FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP. BUT POLICE SAY HE WASN’T THE ONLY ONE THERE FROM SOME OF THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO THERE. WE KNOW THERE ARE TWO TWO PEOPLE INSIDE THE BUSINESS AND THE POLICE HAVE INDICATED IT COULD BE PART OF A RING. SO WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN, UM, ESPECIALLY WITH THE KINDS OF CARS THAT WE HAVE OF. NOW, AS OF TONIGHT, NO SUSPECTS ARE IN CUSTODY, BUT POLICE HAVE NOT SAID IF THEY THINK THESE TWO CRIMES WERE CONNECTED IN

2 suspects break into Edmond car dealership, leave without stealing anything

“I noticed we had an Audi R8 that we had just acquired Saturday evening — and it was missing,” General Manager of Kalidy Kia Corey Suter said on Wednesday. “One of the perpetrators had what appeared to be an Uzi, that we got a picture of.”

Suter suspected the lock on the dealership’s front gate had been broken and surveillance video confirmed it had been forced open by one of the vehicles on the lot.

"There was a truck parked up by the gate, and it turns out they didn’t cut the lock, they rammed the gate with this truck," Suter said.

Other surveillance footage showed the Audi and a Jeep leaving the lot, but one of the vehicles had a GPS tracking device installed.

“It led officers to an address in the 3400 block of North Prospect, and those vehicles were recovered,” said MSgt. Dillon Quirk, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Suter said both vehicles were recovered, along with multiple key fobs and two security cameras that had been stolen from the dealership.

During one of the break-ins, police said a person apparently got thirsty and pulled out a soft drink and looked directly at a security camera while his mask wasn’t covering his face.

“Just from some of the surveillance video there, we know there were two people inside the business,” Quirk said.

Police have no suspects in custody and are not sure if the two incidents are connected, but Suter said he’s concerned after talking with officers.

“Police have indicated it could be part of a ring, so we are concerned that it could happen again — especially with the kinds of cars we have,” Suter said.
