  1. I've made this cake twice now and each time it was a huge hit! The only change I made was when mixing the cake I substituted orange juice for the water (equal amounts) - FABULOUS cake - just wish it wasn't so hard to find the orange cake mix!

  2. It really does taste like a dreamscicle! I followed the directions exactly, except for the frosting. I used 2 tsp of orange extract instead of the one vanilla. It amped up the orange flavor!

  3. Made this cake with a few tweaks in it and everyone loved it. I used the yellow cake mix and used orange juice instead of water and add 2 drops of red food coloring and orange extract to bring out the orange taste, after the cake was done made holes in it with the bubble tea straw which is fatter that the regular straw. Also tried it with real orange juice and the zest of the orange. it was a real hit with my Bible study group and the nurses at the rehab place that's taking care of my mom

  4. Yummy and it smells so good! I called it "Peaches and Cream Cake" this time, using a yellow cake mix with just 2 drops of red food coloring (=orange). I used peach-flavored Jello. I added 1/2 tsp lemon extract+ 1 & 1/2 tsp vanilla in the frosting. My daughter loves peach-flavored everything, and in the fall, I'll slice some fresh peaches for a garnish atop the cake.

  5. I have been making this recipe for YEARS. It's always a hit with no leftovers. It can be challenging to find orange cake mix. Duncan Hines makes an orange flavor and in the Mid-Atlantic region it can be found at Food Lion. I have tried this recipe with lemon instead of orange and that was delicious as well.

  2. This is an excellent, easy to prepare cake. I couldn't find an orange cake mix so used a french vanilla instead. Tasted very much like a Dreamsicle. Nice and moist. Loved the orange taste in the frosting. Thank you for an excellent recipe Marsha, will be making this one again!!

  3. Recipe is great as is, but I had difficulty finding orange cake mix. Instead I used a white cake mix, substituting 1 cup orange juice for the water called for in the directions on cake mix box and I added the zest of 1 orange. I forgot to get orange extract for the pudding so I added the orange zest to that, too. Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren love it!

  5. A light, easy and summery tasting cake.I made the recipe as is, except I used whipping cream instead of cool whip. This was the 1st time I baked with a cake mix.( I used Betty Crockers orange cake mix) and its not going to be the last.
