Valentine’s Day Porch Decorating Coming Right Up

If you’re looking for a little something to fill the space after the Christmas decorations come down, Valentines Day is a perfect occasion to add some festive cheer!

After Christmas, it’s too soon for spring decor, so Valentine’s Day decorations are the perfect way to fill the gap.

I especially like to decorate the porch for a few reasons.

First, it’s the first thing people see when they arrive to your home. I love to have a pretty entryway to welcome them.

Second, you can decorate your porch and not feel like you have to commit to your whole house! It’s festive for a sweet special occasion, but you really don’t need to splash ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ everywhere if you don’t want to!

Third, it’s a concentrated area of real estate. A little decor goes a long way!

Outdoor Porch Decor for Valentine’s Day

It’s not hard to create a lovely setting for Valentine’s Day.

I like to try to have some kind of mental vision or feel of what I want for my outdoor Valentine’s decorations.

Do I want simple and minimalist? Colorful and whimsical? Elegant and classy?

Sometimes I stretch that further to a specific decor style, such as modern farmhouse, vintage rustic, or boho.

But sometimes Valentine’s decor doesn’t fall into neat style categories. And it doesn’t need to. It’s meant to be fun and festive, not something that makes you feel boxed in.

Regardless, I do try to do a little planning and at least identify the vibe I’m going for.

What to Include on Your Valentine Porch

Here are a few things you may want to include on your porch:

Door Decor

This can be a pretty wreath, a heart-shaped wreath or even wood round front door signs. You can even make your own DIY Valentine wreath!

A Banner or Bunting

You can hang a banner or bunting above your door or right at the entryway ridge of the house.

A Welcome Mat

There are super-cute welcome mats out there that are perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Pillows

If you have a porch swing or chairs on your porch, a cute pillow is super festive.

Signs

You can add signs to fill in small areas around planters. You can hang signs on the walls. You can also display a vertical porch sign, too!

Vintage Treasures

You can find amazing unique decor at thrift stores! It’s a great idea to scour your local thrift stores to see what finds you can scoop up!

Think outside of the box for items that are not specifically love-themed, but would work beautifully – such as wire bird cages or floral bouquets in pink and red.

Other Heart or Valentine-Themed Decor

There is no shortage of Valentine bling that you can add to your porch. You can often find inexpensive decor at craft stores, Big Lots and other similar places. It’s always fun to layer in some extra Valentine-themed decorative accents.

DIY Projects

Valentine DIYs are an inexpensive way to decorate. They are my favorite go-to, whether I’m decorating the porch, the living room, or any area in my home! It’s a great way to add character and a personal, unique touch.

You can even do it very cheaply using Dollar Tree materials!
