10 Savory Sweet Potato Recipes (1)

Can I get an amen for savory sweet potato recipes? I still can’t stomach sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top (though I’ll make an exception for this one). I am perpetually in love with spicy sweet potatoes.

That sweet-and-spicy combo keeps me going back for more, whether it’s featured in a burrito bowl, salad, soup… you name it, I’m in. Based on your comments, it seems like you guys are, too. It’s no wonder we all get along.

I rounded up ten of my favorites for you. I have some more sweet potato recipes here (all savory!), but a few didn’t make the cut because the photos don’t do them justice. I’m slowly starting to re-shoot those unappetizing old photos (my Thai red curry and pineapple fried rice just got a new look) so they look more appealing and meet my 2016 standards. I’m afraid that if I really let my perfectionism loose, I’d spend all my days photographing old recipes instead of creating new recipes. Then my photography skills would improve with all the practice, and I’d have to start over again. Do you see the problem here?

Anyway, I won’t be doing any cooking this weekend because I’m on maid of honor duty for my best friend’s wedding! You might be able to catch some of the festivities on Instagram stories. If savory sweet potatoes aren’t your thing (or even if they are), here’s my pumpkin recipe roundup from last October. Hope you all have nice, cozy fall weekends.

1)

Gluten free and easily vegan

“I love this salad! I make it just about once every two weeks :-)It is perfect in every way, and the pepitas absolutely make it.” – Katherine

2)

Gluten free and vegan (if you choose appropriate toppings)

“I made these yesterday for my family! They were amazing. For my dad, it was his first veggie burger and he loved them (and he is a die-hard meat lover). My mom, who loves the veggie burgers from Burger Lounge (which I believe are full of cheese) said that these are just as good, if not better! She even insisted I put the extra patties in the freezer so they can enjoy them after I leave.” – Jade

3) Spicy Thai Peanut Sauce over Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Rice

Gluten free and vegan

“I made this recipe for dinner tonight and it turned out so well! The sauce killed it (although I added extra vinegar because I have a vinegar addiction that I can’t keep in check) and the green onion garnish added just enough bite to make this dish perfect–thanks!” – Sophie

4) Spicy Sweet Potato and Green Rice Burrito Bowls

Gluten free and vegan

“I just made this and with every bite I took I couldn’t believe how good it was. The combination of all of these things together was just perfect. Recipes from your website have changed our entire way of eating over the past year since I’ve discovered it. Thank you!” – Chris :)

7) Sweet Potato Burrito Smothered in Avocado Salsa Verde

Gluten free if you use GF tortillas

“UNBELIEVABLE. If I could give this recipe 10 stars, I would. If I could only take one thing with me to a desert island, I would take this dish. If I could have this dish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I would (and have). If I had to choose a a recipe which perfectly describes everything joyful in the world, I would choose this one. If I were to look up the definition of delicious in the dictionary, I would find this recipe.” – Jenny

8)

Vegan if you skip the cheese

“I made this for supper tonight, and I love it! There might not be leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. My grocery store didn’t have sumac, but I’ll have to get some for next time, because I’m definitely making it again!” – Emilie

9) Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Gluten free and vegan

“These were great! I used coconut oil along with cayenne pepper and cinnamon for the seasoning. I did try using a bit of cornstarch as I had never heard of it before and they were crispy and delicious! Thank you!” – Claire

10) Creamy Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup

Gluten free and vegan

“Today was our first cool day for the season. When I stepped outside for my morning walk I knew I would be making this soup for dinner. It was so good. Thanks so much for choosing to share this tasty recipe. I can’t wait to get Angela’s new cookbook.” – Cathy
